​Our Micro Finance services offer the less privilege smallholders farmers or start-up cocoa farmer’s access to Zero...Interest loans, Progres-savings and other basic financial services. People living in poverty require these types of financial services to start their own cocoa farms and both manage and grow their crops well, just like everyone else. The difference is, the less privilege cocoa farmers can't simply walk into a bank and take out a loan or open a savings account. In most cases, they have very little assets or collateral, lack credit histories and employment records, and may not even be able to read or sign their names.
For these reasons, the majority of formal financial institutions do not consider the less privilege farmers to be creditworthy. Hard-working people who are ready to expand their farms or join the cocoa production industry, often find themselves forced to deal with money lenders and loan sharks. Our Micro Finance approach- and specifically, cocoa farmers or "start up group of cocoa farmers who prompt’s to the SUCOFA-Cocoaboard and said we are ready to go back to cocoa production" –we evaluate their request and level of wiliness, then we are ready to support them, by offering them the opportunity to access our small amounts of loan capital that can enable them start their own cocoa farms.
we use Micro Finance as a platform for improving transforming entire cocoa growing communities. In other words, we don't see micro Finance as our final "product", but a way to create new resources and opportunities for people who want to expand their farms or who want to start or are ready to go back into cocoa farming. Growing cocoa allow the less privilege to earn an income with dignity, send their children to school and look after sick relatives.
