ABOUT US

After more than two decades of our research across the developing communities of Cameroon cocoa growing regions, Sustainable Cocoa Farmers Association understands that many cocoa producers are smallholders farmers in many communities of Cameroon, but with some initiative that they want to increases cocoa production. Sustainable Cocoa Farmers Association is an NGO with the goal of improving Cameroon agricultural systems through targeting of the cocoa sector and it nearly 200 000 smallholder farmers that depend on cocoa for their livelihoods. Cocoa is an economic engine in rural areas of the tropics in Cameroon, generating improved and much needed incomes and opportunities for families and communities. Realizing this potential, however, requires that cocoa farmers receive the knowledge, training and assistance they need to move from subsistence farming to a truly sustainable model that allows them to succeed and prosper. Sustainable Cocoa Farmers Association focuses on programs that work towards improved and more equitable returns for cocoa farmers.
SUCOFA and partners operate group-training workshops models which promote production and encouragement between cocoa producing communities. All of our programs are designed to improve sustainability. our desire is to provide technical and financial support to more than 37 programs in some 300-5000 communities and equipped more than 200,000 young and old cocoa farmers to join the cocoa production industry and lift themselves out of poverty.

Our Vision

Sustainable Cocoa Farmers Association works with cocoa farmers who are struggling to survive in some of the poorest communities in Cameroon. Instead of providing short-term aid, we create permanent change by working alongside communities, helping them to identify the need for continues and sustainable cocoa growing with modern agronomy farming techniques that increases yields.

 

 

A priority for the team at SUCOFA is for cocoa growing communities and families to have access to clean drinking water and water for farming and livestock in Cameroon. Access to clean water and sanitation is a fundamental need and basic necessity which plays a vital role in improving health conditions and encouraging social and economic development.

Quality Cocoa Nursery

 

To ensure success in cocoa farming we must plant healthy plants, of the right age, at the right time, in the right place and free of pest, disease, nutrient or other defects. This program is design to show our farmers the techniques and practices that will help cocoa farmers carry on nursery operations to achieve success in the production of healthy cocoa plants. In this workshop of quality cocoa nursery our regional workshops staffs during farmer field school demonstrate common problems and how to deal with them or avoid them and more..........................

• Researching, breeding, and improving farmer access to cocoa varieties that are higher yielding and resistant to common pests and diseases.​​
• Researching and developing better means of pest and disease control.​
• Promoting diversification of farmer income through inter-cropping cocoa with other crops and developing cocoa enterprises such as seedling production to improve income security and to help cocoa farmers sustained their families during off seasons.​

• Improving farmers’ business skills so that farmers can better manage their farms as profitable enterprises.​

• Educating farmer about quality testing and control, enabling them to better market their cocoa.​

• Connecting farmers to market information systems.

We empower our farmers to make choices that help develop strong, prosperous communities in all of the Cameroon cocoa-growing regions.

Sustainable Cocoa Farmers Association seeks to create breakthroughs in effective cocoa tree sustainable programs using the leverage of large inducement training workshops Instead of recognizing historical accomplishments; SUCOFA is gradually looking forward for a simple formula of transformational change in the cocoa production industry in a 2–5 year time frame
